For something a bit different...

My husband suggested a few days ago that maybe I should try reviewing new things/products that I try just to let people know what the "Average Joe" thinks. So here goes...

First of all I have not been in the mood to cook whatsoever lately. I havent even tried doing grocery shopping or meal planning resulting in lots of Ramen Noodles, sandwiches and pizza rolls or just eating whatever junk we have in the pantry. So after a long day of cleaning and running salon errands I found myself in the frozen foods aisle of our local Walmart trying to find something quick and easy that wasnt frozen pizza and did not resemble frozen pizza in any way shape or form; i.e pizza rolls, bagel bites, hot pockets etc. Anyway I have been seeing the ads for the new line of Chinese take out inspired line, you know the commercial; couple is at home contemplating take out when this panda bear sitting in their living room whips out a bag of said product and is all like "hey try this its as good as the China Kitchen down the street". Thats not really what he says but my attention span isn't long enough to get anything besides "panda bear cute" or "yummmm food!". So with out further adieu here is my review (complete with pictures) of the new Wanchai Ferry complete meal for two Shrimp Lo Mein & Tai Pei Pork Potstickers:

The bag says that it is "ready in 14 minutes" and yes it was. We started with browning the pre-breaded shrimp in 2 tsp. of cooking oil (I actually only used enough to lightly coat the bottom of the pan) I would suggest that you only use a small amount of oil or just use Pam to keep it from sticking. The only real complaint that we had was that the meal was a bit oily.

So while that was cooking I put the potstickers in a lidded skillet with a bit of oil to brown for 1 minute before adding 1 cup water and steaming for 8 minutes.

After the shrimp were done they were removed from the pan and the veggies and sauce were added and the noodle pouch was warmed for 2 minutes in the microwave.

Then after cooking for a bit you add the noodles and shrimp and let cook for a bit longer.

Thats all a few simple steps and dinner is served.

So now for the review:
The husband and I actually liked this one very much the portion was more than 2 servings we actually had a little left over. The shrimp were not rubbery or "frozen" tasting. The veggies had lots of flavor the noodles although cooked in the microwave had a good texture they weren't mushy.
We give it 4 1/2 stars out of 5 because it was a bit oily (I think it had sesame oil in the sauce.
We would purchase this product again.
